Luke Shaw has picked up double fracture in his right leg during Manu's clash with PSV Eindhoven

Manchester United's 20-year old defender Luke Shaw is diagnosed to have fractured his both legs during Red Devil's 2 - 1 defeat to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in Champions League group stage game.

After 15 minutes into the game, when left-back Shaw dribbled the ball into Eindhoven's penalty box,a strong challenge from Mexican defender Hector Moreno caught his standing leg and sent Shaw to the ground. As a result Shaw was sidelined and substituted by Marcos Rojo.

The severity of the injury was confirmed after the final whistle that, Shaw suffered a double fracture of his right leg.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, United manager Louis van Gaal said,

"I’m not a doctor so I cannot say, but when you have a double fracture it is four to six months. But you can never say that in advance. He won’t play in the group stage, I don’t think. I hope he will play again this season."

Shortly after suffering the injury, Shaw thanked the well-wishers who sent him notes of support via his Twitter account saying:

"Thank you everyone for your messages, words can't describe how gutted I am, my road to recovery starts now, I will come back stronger."

His former club Southampton told Shaw to "come back stronger", to which he replied: "thank you, you don't know how much you as a club mean to me, thank you so much I really appreciate it."

Di Maria blames Van Gaal for his departure from Old Trafford

Angel Di Maria, the 27-year old Argentine midfielder who joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in 2014 has now left the Red Devils for French Champions PSG during this summer transfer.

Di Maria, who once played a key role in Real Madrid's success has managed to make only 27 appearances at Old Trafford due to his drop of form combined with injuries. The Argentine international who was once expected to be a great success under Van Gaal has now claimed that he had numerous problems with the Dutch coach and it forced him to leave United.

Di Maria told ESPN Radio,

"Van Gaal has his philosophy and one of the things that made me want to leave is that.

"It is difficult to adapt to Van Gaal. I had a couple of rows with him.

"I started well [at United] and after that I got injured. Things didn't go well for me and Van Gaal changed my position. I spoke with [Laurent] Blanc and his thinking was that I'd play in a similar position to where I did at Real Madrid."

Di Maria on his debut game, made a beautiful assist to Lavezzi's goal during PSG's 3 - 0 win over Monaco and he is full of joy for his French move.

"I didn't imagine a reception like this. It was the most beautiful presentation I have ever had. The truth is that I'm happy to come to PSG and to have teammates like Lavezzi and Pastore."

Louis van Gaal backs Rooney against critics

Manchester United boss Van Gaal has backed Wayne Rooney over the criticism of the striker's quiet start to the season.

United's Premier League campaign has got off to a good start with two consecutive wins over Tottenham and Aston Villa, but the most expected Red Devils star who once again got his favorite striker position back has displayed a low performance which caused a recent criticism.

But Van Gaal has dismissed all the critics saying he has every faith that the Manchester United captain will deliver goals.

"All the media has written for one year that I have to put him in the striker’s position, so it’s amazing that after two games you are doubting your own opinions,” Van Gaal said.

"I cannot understand that. I have always confidence in my players.

"We have a long way to go this season, but we have had a better start than last year and also two clean sheets.

"That says about our structure and balance, so I have confidence that we will develop ourselves to a much higher level and I expect that also from my players."

Van Gaal on United's re-entry to Champions League,

"There's a lot of pressure because our aim and goal is to reach the Champions League group stage,

"These kinds of matches are difficult. Brugge can defend very well. They can attack also, so it shall be a difficult match. That is why the pressure is high.

"The board, the players and the fans want to participate [in Europe], so the pressure is high. We have to show our quality against a good team, but it is not an easy game."

Bastian Schweinsteiger speaks about his transfer, Van Gaal and Premier League

Geoff Shreeves of Sky Sports met up with Manchester United's new midfield signing Bastian Schweinsteiger to discuss about his transfer and his expectations of his new club.

The 31-year old German World Cup winner has made a move from Allianz Arena for the very first time after spending all of his senior career with Bayern, where he joined as a youth player in 1998.

When asked about his aim of winning Premier League title he said,

"First of all, I think it is not easy to win a title in the Premier League, as you have really good teams here," he said. "But if everyone works hard together, and believes in each other, I think there is a chance to win the title.

"It is not easy, I know that, the rest of the team and coach knows that. We know what we can do and bring on the pitch, so we have to be convinced about ourselves, and I think we are, but we have to work a lot."

Schweinsteiger has already worked with Van Gaal in Bayern Munich between 2009 and 2011 where the won a league title and a cup double in their first season.

"I remember also the first year that he came we almost won the Treble," Schweinsteiger said. "But we lost the (Champions League) final against Inter Milan. You know with him what kind of person you have in the club, so you know the way.

"The year before last, Manchester United were seventh and then last year they were fourth. And after the first 10 matches, I remember United had 13 points, but from that day on they played a really good season.

"So I think we have the chance to come closer and I see the possibilities here and with such a big club and its supporters, you can achieve something here this season. I am also looking forward to challenging myself, but I especially want to win titles.

"He was very important as he when he came to Bayern Munich, he saw from our previous five matches - when Jupp Heynckes was coach - that I played in central midfield," he said. "So he liked it and he let me play in that position at No 6, 8 and sometimes 10. So it was very important that he trusted me in that situation and from then on, I played in that position and I think I had some nice matches."

Schweinsteiger about his move from Allianz Arena to Old Trafford,

"I was looking forward my whole career to once playing somewhere else to get the experience and if I thought about moving to England, I always had Manchester United in my head,

"I am looking forward to this challenge in my life. I won everything in Munich and had an unbelievable time there, we had big success, won the Treble, and also with the national team we won the World Cup, and now I was ready for a change.

"In 2010, I also had the possibility to change to another club, but I was not ready as I wanted to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich first, now I had a feeling that I deserve it, to see something different, and so in the end I have to say that the timing was perfect! And also to play for Manchester United is a really big honour.

"I am fit, I am getting fitter," he said. "I had long holidays this summer and I came a little bit late to the team, and then I had a small calf injury in America, which was not perfect. But I am getting in better and better shape and within one or two weeks I will be at the highest level and then I can play like I want.

"In the past, I was not injured that much. I had a small problem with my knee and one operation on my ankle three years ago. And by the way I won the World Cup, so you have to be fit!"

Rafael: Van Gaal did not like me

The 25-year old Brazilian defender who left Manchester United for Lyon this summer has claimed that the Red Devils boss Louis Van Gaal doesn't like him.

Rafel who emerged as a main player in United' s starting line-up under Sir Alex Ferguson, has started just six league games following the appointment of Van Gaal as he lost his place to Antonio Valencia and subsequently made a move to French side Lyon.

In an interview with Globo Esporte, when asked about Van Gaal's reported dislike of Brazilian players, Rafael said,

"I don't know, sincerely, I don't know what to say about that because I was the only one [at United], since Anderson left before.

"I know this history that he doesn't like Brazilians but I can't say: 'Oh, he doesn't like Brazilians'. I know that he didn't like me but, if that's because I'm Brazilian, I don't know.

"I did the complete season, when he (Ferguson) left. In 2012-13 I played almost every game, it was my best season at United, we were even champions.

"And that’s when they changed the manager. That change was fatal for me. I was going well, then Ferguson left.

"That’s what changed, so Valencia started playing as a right-back for Van Gaal. He’s also a great player, but I was doing well in that position.

"Ferguson even called to wish me good luck,

"I had a very good relationship with him, he helped me a lot in Manchester, and always did everything to help me. He signed me when I was 16, I don’t even know what to say."

Rafael had little to say about David Moyes' short tenure at Old Trafford, he added:

"I won’t talk much about the relationship with Moyes, because it was too little, less than a year.

"And with Van Gaal the relationship was normal. He had his opinions, his thoughts, Everyone has their opinion. A manager is a manager. I always respected it and I will always respect it."

Peter Schmeichel has criticised Manchester United’s handling of David de Gea's situation

The 51 year old former Manchester United great Peter Schmeichel feels that United has not properly handled David de Gea's situation and says that this should have been resolved long before the start of this season.

Recently Spanish Goalkeeper David de Gea has expressed his interest in moving to Real Madrid following the departure of Iker Casillas from Santiago Bernabeu and even Madrid is looking forward to complete this deal, but the Red Devils have urged De Gea to stay at Old Trafford.

Due to this situation De Gea was rested during Manchester United's first game against Tottenham Hotspur as manager Louis van Gaal selected Sergio Romero ahead of De Gea as he felt the 24-year-old would not have been able to focus properly on the match after a summer of speculation regarding a transfer to Real Madrid.

Peter Schmeichel has expressed his concern over this issue saying,

"If the player is not happy; his agent, himself and the club that want him should have sorted this a long time ago, it's sad that it's dragged into the season.
I'd really like De Gea to stay. Two years running he's been player of the year. You don't let players like that go but if he wants to go, let him go and let Manchester United move on."

Following this issue, Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen who played for Netherlands in previous world cup under Van Gaal and Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris are expected as potential replacements for De Gea.

Peter Schmeichel has picked out Hugo Lloris as correct replacement for De Gea saying,

"Cillessen is a good goalkeeper, but (Van Gaal) took him off for the penalty shoot-out at the World Cup and that shows some kind of no trust," Schmeichel said.

(Van Gaal substituted the Ajax goalkeeper for Tim Krul in the dying minutes of extra-time during Holland's win over Costa Rica at the World Cup last year because he felt the Newcastle man was better at saving penalties)

"I think he doesn't trust him 100 per cent and I wouldn't like a goalkeeper like that at Manchester United.

If De Gea goes I would love Lloris to come to Manchester United. He has exactly the style of play and he is proven in the Premier League."

Hristo Stoichkov: Van Gaal is destroying Manchester United

Former Barca great Hristo Stoichkov has slammed Van Gaal

Former Bulgarian footballer and Barcelona great Hristo Stoichkov has advised Pedro not to join Van Gaal managed Manchester United.

Stoichkov has blasted Van Gaal refering him as "mediocre" and a "bad Person" who is "destroying" the Red Devils.

Barcelona winger Pedro has been linked with a move to Manchester United due to lack of his first-team opportunities at Camp Nou which has been restricted last season by the sensational form of the Barca's front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, but Stoichkov has urged Pedro to turn down Manu offer.

The Ballon d'Or, five-time La Liga winner and European Cup champion with Barca says that Pedro should consider what has happened to his former Barca player Victor Valdes and has warned that the same may happen to him.

Recently, even Brazilian and current Barca forward Neymar has also insistd Pedro not to leave Camp Nou.

Hristo Stoichkov about Van Gaal,

"I would never be under the orders of Van Gaal," the 49-year-old told Spanish radio Onda Cero. "He's mediocre.

He destroyed Barca and is destroying Manchester United.

With what he has done to Valdes he has shown he is a bad person. Hopefully Pedro listens to me and doesn't leave."

I have no respect for him," Stoichkov added.

One day, when I was injured, I was with my wife at Camp Nou and Van Gaal went up to her.

He asked her how it was possible that she married someone like me. She responded that I was a Ballon d'Or winner.

My departure in 1998 was the fault of Van Gaal, for sure."
